Joint manipulations
Mr. Ryals has been successfully utilising foot manipulation to help painful stiff and injured feet for nearly twenty years
Joint manipulation is a very old form of treatment that has been utilised by many medical professions over the years. Joints within the foot can be manipulated to produce very powerful positive effects where other traditional treatment modalities have failed. Various forms of manipulation technique exist which are designed to work on either soft tissue or bone. Examples of these techniques include high velocity techniques, low velocity techniques, soft tissue trigger point release work alongside a wide selection of other techniques. The usage of a manipulation technique is dependent upon the patients clinical needs. Podiatrists utilise manipulation techniques to help mobilise patients feet and help cure foot pathology. These techniques can be a very useful where other treatment modalities have failed.
Manipulation can be used as an alternative to surgery or having to take drugs or injections, sometimes we can stop the need for prescribing foot orthotics this is especially true for cases of heel pain or plantar fasciitis. The results of manipulations are varied in that a single manipulation can cure months of pain whilst several manipulations may be needed for more complex problems. Conversely a manipulation may not yield any positive effects to help pain and discomfort. A practitioner will need to assess a presenting complaint before an effective manipulation treatment plan can be formulated. Manipulation can be used in conjunction with other treatment modalities to achieve the best results. Mr. Ryals has answered a few regularly asked questions.
